Waste Collection Services

We would like to remind our residents about overfilling your garbage can. The can is considered overfilled when the lid doesn't close properly or is too heavy. In some cases, the cans are so overfilled that the lid either sticks straight up into the air or it isn't even used at all. These situations can either damage the automated equipment which Waste Management uses to collect the garbage or the garbage spills onto the streets. Be advised that the weight limit on the cans is 225 pounds. Also, please have your garbage and recycling cans out on the curb by 7:00 AM on your scheduled pickup day. Please make sure to set your cans at least 2 feet apart in order for them to be picked up easily.

What happens if I overfill my container?

An overloaded container happens when your trash or recycling materials exceed the top and prevents the lid from closing easily or cover the ground around the container. It also applies when extra debris is found on top of a closed container lid. Overages may lead to an incomplete service.

If occurring frequently, you may need to order an additional can.

To ensure your waste is collected without issue

  • Place all containers at the curb by 7:00 AM on your scheduled collection day, with the handles facing your house.
  • Containers must be positioned within 2 feet of the curb and at least 4 feet away from obstacles such as mailboxes, fences, lampposts, other containers, or parked vehicles.
  • Do not park vehicles in front of or too close to containers during collection hours, as this may prevent the collection of your trash, recycling, or green waste.
  • Please note: There are three different drivers for each type of service, and recycling is collected every other week (bi-weekly).

Thank you for helping us keep your service running smoothly!

Garbage Service Schedule

Trash pickup is every Friday.
Recycle is every other Friday - See Calendar
Green Waste is every Friday, April through November
  • Green=GARBAGE

Pickup is every week on your regularly scheduled day.
  • Blue=Becomes New (Recycle)

Pickup is every other week on the same scheduled day as Trash.
  • Yellow=YARD Waste/GREEN Waste

Pickup is every week on the same scheduled day as trash, March through December. Residents will only pay for Green Waste 10 months of the year. Green Waste is taken to Intermountain Regional Landfill in Fairfield, Utah instead of Transjordan Landfill due to association reasons.

Why is my trash & green waste taken to Intermountain Regional Landfill instead of Trans-Jordan Landfill?

Bluffdale City currently hauls residential trash and green waste to Intermountain Regional Landfill in Fairfield, Utah. While Trans-Jordan Landfill is a closer facility, Bluffdale is not a member of the Trans-Jordan Cities Association, which limits our access. For this reason, we utilize Intermountain Regional Landfill for disposal services.
